Thanks a lot for you suggestion, and the link to the other defect that suggested to edit registry entries for
• HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
• HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

Unfortunately, I don't have those registry entries. I found a couple of HKLM ones, and a few Wow6432Node ones, but in unrelated tags.
I just searched for the string "Hewlett-Packard" in all files on the computer in the hope that I could figure out which file interferes with my MySQL installation, but found 8000+ files containing the string so not sure that's very helpful.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Kjell

Searching I noticed that not just MySQL installer is affected by that 'Could not access network location \Hewlett-Packard\\.' issue. Are you tried to use a Registry cleaner application maybe it helps. Thanks.
