Description:
I double-clicked an existing Workbench file (.mwb) from the Windows Explorer.  I expected this to launch Workbench, and load that model.

Instead, Workbench launched the splash screen, then crashed: "MySQL Workbench has stopped working.  Windows is searching for a solution."  Oddly, Windows did not find a solution, although it was awfully nice of it to look.

If I open Workbench by double clicking the icon, it launches normally.  I can then open the same file from the recent file list and it loads without error.

How to repeat:
Open Workbench.
Choose "Create new EER model" from the start page.
Save the model.
Close Workbench.
Find the model you just saved, and double-click it in the Windows Explorer.

It also crashed for me when doubleclingking the model, but I can open from file .. open menu.

There is another report here (I can't seem to find) where doubleclicking a model caused the splash screen hang forever. I believe this report was with 5.2.10. May or may not be variations of the same theme!

Also any stupid/simple model that I save crashes WB when opened by double-clicking the model file (a model with an empty canvas, a model with a single text field, a model with a an empty table (what is illegal btw. as tables cannot be empty like what databases can).

The problem still exists in version 5.1.14.
I have enclosed a sample file.
I am using Windows Vista(64bit).

Oops. I meant version 5.2.14. The problem still exists.

Not fixed? Please advise.

could you try to uninstall WB and re-install 5.2.14? I can open your file just fine by double-clicking in explorer. (Windows 7 pro x64 here)

Bug is fixed (for me anyway) in 5.2.22.

An entry has been added to the 5.2.22 changelog:

If a Workbench model file was double clicked, MySQL Workbench crashed on launch. However, if MySQL Workbench was started using its application icon, and then the same model file loaded from within MySQL Workbench, no problems were encountered.
