This bug seems to be resolved in WB 5.2 GA Linux/32-bit. The dialog opens at a default size that is wide enough to display all of the content. Unless there is another platform where this bug is valid, I'm happy for it to be closed.

An entry has been added to the 5.2.25 changelog: The labels for the Manage DB Connections dialog, such as username and password, were hidden when the dialog was opened at its default size.
