Description:
Hello, dear Sirs.

I would like to suggest to change default --prefix in configure to /usr/local/mysql since such setting is used in manual and this is the most widely used setting.

Separate dir seem to be used in all more or less big softwares (in Apache for example /usr/local/apache2).

See also bug #2029: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=2029
and #2028: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=2028

How to repeat:
Just run ./configure and you will see, that default prefix is /usr/local

Suggested fix:
Set default prefix to /usr/local/mysql instead of /usr/local

Thank you for the feature request.

This would affect too many users for not enough gain, thus setting to WontFix.
