Description:
Mysql Workbench 5.0.14a crashes on Vista when selecting a column in the table edit window

How to repeat:
Open a model, open an ERD, right click a table, choose "edit", in the edit window click the "columns" tab, hit [esc] to get out of editing the blank row, right click on any existing column. vista pops up "Mysql workbench as stopped working" etc.

I have UAC turned off. 5.0.11a worked fine like this.
The model I used was created with 5.0.11a
I have the vista SP1 rc installed, but 5.0.11a worked fine with that too.

d.

Suggested fix:
I have gone back to 5.0.11a

I have this 'stopped working' message in Vista Sp1 RC frequenty with several programs (including 'windows esplorer' and 'windows installer' !)

I think it is caused by 'execution prevention' Refer to:
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/186de3d0-01af-4d4c-981d-674637d2f4bf10... (sometimes a popup occurs telling ' .. execution prevention has prevented ...' when this happens - but only sometimes)

In my early Vista installation it happened frequently. As updates became available it almost stopped, but after installing SP1 RC it happens frequently again.

I suspect this feature is buggy! Also SP1 RC may be built with some code that does not include the latest fixes! Or you may have some software installed that 'interacts' with directX/OpenGL.

Just FYI!

Danny,

could you please check if the issue reported only occurs when you click a PK column or if that also occurs on non-PK columns (i can only reproduce with PK-Columns).

thx

Ok, done some tests...

1/ open a model edit a table click on all column types: only PK columns fail

2/ new model new table add PK column: no problem
2a/ new table, edit 1st table: PK column edit OK

3/ save new model
3a/ open new model edit table click PK column: failure

4/ new model new table
4a/ save model
4b/ open model new table
4c/ edit old table, click PK: works fine.

Hope that helps!

A note has been added to the 5.15 changelog:

Editing a primary key column within a model on Microsoft Vista could cause a crash.
