Description:
Hardware: Pentium 4 HT 3 GHZ, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD.

I installed Linux Fedora 8 with included MySQL server 5.0.45-4.fc8.x86_64.
It works perfect (mysql shell tool ok).

I installed MySQL administrator 5.0r12-3.fc8.x86_64.
It works perfect.

I installed MySQL query browser 5.0r12-3.fc8.x86_64.
It starts correctly.
When trying to expand one database schemedata on the panel on the right of the screen, the query browser don't expand it and the software is unavailable, it freezes, like a kind of infinite loop. I have to kill it to close it.
Interesting point: despite this, I can access to the database schema through the menu File, Select Schema, selecting database, OK. After that, the database is expanded in the right panel and I can work with my database (queries, ...). But I can use this tip only once, if I use it another time (to work on another database), the software freezes as explained before.

I tried the following releases:
mysql-query-browser-5.0r12-1fc5.i386.rpm
mysql-administrator-5.0r12-1fc5.i386.rpm
mysql-gui-tools-5.0r12-1fc5.i386.rpm
The behavior is the same... It also freezes.

How to repeat:
Start query browser.
Connect to MySQL server without schema.
On the right panel titled Schemedata, try to expand mysql database for example.

Query browser freezes.

Suggested fix:
It works one time (only) through the menu File, Select Schema...
Maybe it can help.

exactly the same on slackware 12.1.
i have mysql-query-browser 5.0-r12.

It connects but when i click on a schema in hangs up.
If I set the default schema before connecting still it hangs up.

Mysql Administrator connects and works fine.

For Fedora users:
1) Go to http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3
2) Advanced RPM Search
3) Select fedora version (tested with fedora 8)
4) Download mysql-query-browser-5.0r12-4.fc8.i386.rpm
5) Extract the content of mysql-query-browser-5.0r12-4.fc8.i386.rpm
6) Replace /usr/bin/mysql-query-browser with new file (extracted on step 5)
7) Replace /usr/bin/mysql-query-browser-bin with new file (extracted on step 5)
8) Delete or rename folder /usr/share/mysql-gui/query-browser
9) Copy folder "query-browser" (from step 5) to /usr/share/mysql-gui/

Tested with fedora 8 , kernel 2.6.23.1-42.

For 64 version download mysql-query-browser-5.0r12-3.fc8.x86_64.rpm (Only 32 bit tested for this situation).

For slackware users (and maybe others also), the mysql-gui-tools-5.0r5 do work without any problem. It contains mysql-query-browser version 1.2.5beta.

Tested with Slackware 11 and 12.
