Description:
installed visual web developer 2008 express and mysql 5 and MySQL Connector Net 5.1.2 and registered the MySql.Data.dll.

When i try to add the database to the database explorer it gives me the add connection window when i change the data source it does not have an option for mysql.

How to repeat:

Same here with Visual Web Developer 2008 Express, MySql 5.0 and MySql connector/net 5.2.2.
Accessing DB bij code works fine, but "database explorer" functionality in VWD2008E doesn't show anything MySql related.
Should this be working, or is it simply a limitation of the VS Express editions?

Is an update to this problem? I also have VWD 08 install with the 5.2.2 connector.

Closing this bug report. Have asked my MS colleagues if this is possible. If so, will create a worklog to implement this.

What is the status of this bug?

I have installed VWD 2008, MySql 5.4, My SQL Connector 6.1.2. Right clicking on Solution Explorer and "add reference" I see 4 entries "MySql.Data", "MySql.Data.CF", "MySql.Data,Entity" and "MySql.web". All show a version of 6.1.2, so I figure that I have installed the connector properly.

I then go into Database Explorer to add the connection, When I select "Change..." there is no option for MySql?

The last update on this bug is a year ago and doesn't really help me.

VWD 2008, MySQL 5.1, MySQL Connector 6.2.2 - Still seeing this bug, even though it's marked "Closed" here.

After my previous question, I bit the bullet and paid for Visual Studio. The connector works just fine with that, and shows up just like you would expect. I suppose that Microsoft is giving VWD away for free, so they don't allow other database connectors.
