Description:
According to James Widman (http://lists.mysql.com/internals/12639), it would be great to have pkg-config (http://pkgconfig.freedesktop.org/wiki/) supported by mysql and mysql++:

"I'm aware that MySQL comes with scripts that can be called from within
configure.ac, but pkgconfig lets the lib user include the lib into
his/her project with a lot less home-grown logic (see the README that
comes with pkgconfig for an example of how the configure.ac writer
would use it). It also gives the lib user a very easy way to enforce
the use of minimum, maximum, or precise dependency versions when the
end-user runs `./configure`."

How to repeat:
It is a feature request.

Suggested fix:
"This would require a small addition to the files distributed with MySQL."

"The pkgconfig support file could be generated easily using the existing scripts that come with MySQL."

I'm currently compiling and trying to use the library.
The lack of pkg-config support is floating above my head with a big exclamation sign.

This feature request is more than 2 years old and it still isn't added?
