Description:
Cannot use the schemata search. As soon as you type into it.

A MySQL error was encountered. The message is:

  Could not fetch schema tables.
The following error occurred: Access denied for user:
  'xxx' to database 'a' (1044)

I also have this problem with MySQL Admin. I have logged a seperate bug for that.

My problem is that my hosting company, Network Solutions has over 3,300 schemas on the one MySQL server installation. Of course, I don't have privs to nearly all of these and so MySQL QB is popping up a message box reminding me that I don't. I have to click OK for every access denied. My Schema starts with S, so you can imagine how long that is going to take.

How to repeat:
Connect to a MySQL server with lots of schemas and where you are a user that has only full privs on 1 schema. Where the name of that 1 schema is not within the first few schema names.

I forgot to mention that you have only privs on 1 schema and no privs whatsoever on the other schemas.

Where's the feed back. Since I posted that message, there has obviously been a change on the Netwrok Solutions MySQL server. One can think of a few possibilites as to why.

Now, I can no longer see the other databases that I have no privs for. I guess either you guys got in touch with them, or the login details that I posted here were used by some memeber of the public to attempt some security comprimises with the Network Solutions MySQL server seeing as they have only got 3.23.58. Either way, Network Solutions has made changes. it doesn't bother me as I can only see my db when I do show databases and therefore the problem I had is resolved, i.e. I can use the schemata search ok. But the bug still exists in the software in my opinion.

Anyway, I suppose, who cares now.

What schemata search do you mean? There is one in Administrator, but none in QueryBrowser, unless I misunderstood you. Anyway, I'll get this fixed in Administrtor.

In Query Browser on the right had side. This is where the list of schemas are shown. there is a search text box above this list with the icon of a magnify glass.

Can you confirm that this bug was found in the Windows version of Query Browser?

I tried to verify according what you wrote:

you can log onto this empty database;
Username: mysqlbug
Password: mysqlbug
Database: schemabug
Host: 205.178.146.15

however I got a denied log, could you please provide the grants again for
to try to test on my side?

Thanks in advance.
