Altering view name cause duplicate view with old name

How to repeat:
Create a table view, later try to change view name.  You'll see duplicate of table view.

Fixed as of the upcoming MySQL Workbench 8.0.12 release, and here's the changelog entry:

A second view was created unexpectedly when an existing view was renamed
using ALTER VIEW syntax.
