I have this same issue in Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10) Developer Preview 3, it makes it otherwise impossible to use past an initial query without having to create a new tab.

The way I would around this is copy the SQL from the table right click into a new SQL tab

Fixed as of the upcoming MySQL Workbench 6.2.2 release, and here's the changelog entry: On OS X, executing a query would sometimes hide the results grid. Thank you for the bug report.

My tables are dropping, my data that I am adding to my tables is dropping, I cannot figure out what is happening. Also I cannot make a backup folder for my information. What is going on here??
