Verified fixed on 0.7.1 You now see: sbin/mysql-proxy --log-level=debug (message) mysql-proxy 0.8.0 started (debug) chassis.c:987: current RLIMIT_NOFILE = 256 (hard: 9223372036854775807) (debug) chassis.c:991: trying to set new RLIMIT_NOFILE = 8192 (hard: 9223372036854775807) (debug) chassis.c:999: set new RLIMIT_NOFILE = 8192 (hard: 9223372036854775807)

A note has been added to the 0.7.1 changelog: MySQL Proxy would be unable to increase it's own maximum number of open files accorindg to the applied limit, if the limit was less than 8192. When set to debug level, MySQL Proxy will now report the open files limits and when the limits have been updated.
