A patch for this bug has been committed. After review, it may be pushed to the relevant source trees for release in the next version. You can access the patch from: http://lists.mysql.com/commits/63563 2743 Horst Hunger 2009-01-19 Fix for bug#39108: Set global wait timeout within the test, not more via opt file. Deleted the opt file. Replaced the sleeps by wait condition. Made some beautyfications.

I am basically ok with the changes. Please have a look into the attached wait_timeout.test. It contains - some improvements - some comments (start with "ML:") Ok to push if the comments are considered.
