Description:
It would be nice to mention how to alter the collation for a column in "10.3.4. Column Character Set and Collation"  (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/charset-column.html)

This is done in the preceding paragraphs for the default(!) for database and table, but not for the columns.  This is mentioned in "10.9. Column Character Set Conversion" (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/charset-conversion.html), so myabe one could move that text, or (just/also) give a reference.

(The preceding paragraphs mention that it only changes the default for database and table.  It would also be nice to explicitly add that this means ALTER does not affect existing columns and values!)
