Description:
See the example below.

It works only for bit(M) where M is multiple of 8.

How to repeat:
mysql> create table t1 (b bit(1));
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.06 sec)

mysql> create table t2 (b bit(1));
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.06 sec)

mysql> create table tm (b bit(1)) engine = merge union = (t1,t2);
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.02 sec)

mysql> select * from tm;
ERROR 1168 (HY000): All tables in the MERGE table are not identically defined

Noted in 5.0.23 changelog.

MERGE tables did not work reliably with BIT columns.
